Founded in 2007 and located in Martillac (33), IMPLANET is a medical technology company manufacturing premium implants for orthopedic surgery.
Its activity is organized around two product lines, (i) the latest generation JAZZ® implant dedicated to the treatment of spinal pathologies involving spinal fusion and (ii) the MADISON® total knee prosthesis. Protected by four families of international patents, JAZZ® has obtained 510(k) regulatory clearance from the FDA in the United States, CE marking for Europe and ANVISA clearance in Brazil. IMPLANET has achieved a turnover of €6m in 2020.
In 2020, IMPLANET began a strategy of refocusing on its spine business, demonstrated by the acquisition in May 2021 of OSD, a company specializing in the design, manufacture and sale of implants for spine surgery (thoracolumbar screws, cages and cervical plates).
As part of this strategy, IMPLANET has sold its MADISON® total knee prosthesis business, for a total amount of €5.0m, plus an additional €0.5m, to SERF, a subsidiary of the MENIX Group, a key player in the manufacture of orthopedic prostheses, present in France and abroad.
ATOUT CAPITAL advised IMPLANET in its strategic development, which led initially to the acquisition of OSD in May 2021 and then to the sale of its MADISON® business.
This operation will enable IMPLANET to position itself as a leading player in spine surgery, in France and internationally, while consolidating its current financial situation. Thanks to these additional resources, the Group plans to strengthen and accelerate its commercial development, enrich its range of spine implants, and continue to expand its certifications and approvals.
